INSTANTS Jorge Luis Borges (Argetinian Poet)

“instants
If I could have my life all over again
in my next one I would try to commit more mistakes.
I would not try to be so perfect,I would relax more.
I would be a greater fool than I have been,
Actually I would take very few things seriously.
I would take more risks, embark on more journeys, contemplate more sunsets, climb more mountains, swim more rivers.
I would go to places where I have never been,
Would eat more ice-cream and fewer beans,
I would have more real problems and fewer imaginary ones.
I was one of those persons who lived sensibly and productively every minute of my life; though I did have moments of joy too.
But if I were to go back, I would try to have only good moments.
In case you don’t know it, our life is made up only of that: of moments.
Do not miss the now.

I was one of those who never went anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bag, an umbrella and a parachute.
If I had my life again, I would travel lighter.
If I would begin to live,
I would start going barefoot at the beginning of spring,
And would go on like that till the end of autumn.
I would take more rounds in a horse carriage,
Would watch more sunrises and would play more with children,
If I had again my life ahead of me.
But, you see, I am 85 years old, and I know I am dying.”
